Unlearning the Colonized Mind

For so many Filipinos in the diaspora, there are experiences we were taught to carry quietly: the pressure to succeed, the grief of migration, the weight of family sacrifice, the longing to belong somewhere fully. Sikolohiyang Pilipino reminds us that these are not simply individual struggles, but histories carried through relationship, memory, and survival. Your presence in this workshop is part of a larger remembering — that Filipinos have always carried ways of understanding the self rooted in kapwa, dignity, community, and collective humanity long before colonial frameworks taught us to see ourselves otherwise.
Before our live sessions begin, you will also receive optional access to a Family Story Mapping mini-course — a gentle reflective exercise designed to help you begin exploring your family’s story across generations.
Through this process, you’ll begin reflecting on:
family patterns and roles
migration stories and sacrifices
inherited survival messages
strengths, losses, and emotional legacies
the histories that shaped your family system
You’ll use these reflections to create a personal Story Map that we may build upon throughout the workshop. This exercise is completely self-paced and private. You are never required to share anything personal with the group, and you are welcome to participate only in the ways that feel supportive and meaningful for you.
We’re honored to learn and reflect alongside you. Additional workshop details will be sent to your email soon.
